What is Acıbadem Talks (ACT)?

Acıbadem Talks is a student speaking competition designed to provide young learners with a platform to express their ideas, stories, and perspectives in English.

The programme was originally launched at our school with a clear purpose: to offer students a meaningful space where they can express themselves freely, share their thoughts, and engage in dialogue with one another.

Over time, we asked ourselves an important question:
“Could this experience be just as valuable for students from other schools as well?”

Inspired by well-known university-level speaking platforms, we adapted this concept for middle school students and expanded Acıbadem Talks into a national competition open to 7th-grade students across Istanbul.

Throughout this journey, students:

• develop public speaking and presentation skills,
  
  

• build confidence,
  
  

• engage with themes that matter to their generation,
  
  

• and exchange ideas with peers from different schools.
  
  

The core aim of Acıbadem Talks is to create an inspiring environment where students from diverse backgrounds can use English as a tool for expression, interaction, and meaningful communication.
